Clinical Supervision
Clinical Supervision and Consultation for Associates & Therapists
In the state of Texas, it is required that you complete 3,000 hours of clinical work under board approved clinical supervision in order to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. In conjunction with those 3,000 hours of practicing, LMSW's are required to obtain at minimum 100 hours of Clinical Supervision from a Board Approved Clinical Supervisor.
Grace Dowd is a State Board approved Clinical Supervisor for Licensed Master Social Workers seeking supervision hours towards gaining their clinical license. Please contact Grace to inquire further about questions regarding supervision rates and opportunities for associates.
Common Questions
What is your theoretical orientation/approach to therapy?
I operate from a relational and empathetic approach, and draw from multiple attachment-based models, as well as interpersonal neurobiology.
What approach do you utilize for supervision? Group or Individual?
I utilize a combination of group and individual supervision, accounting for approximately 4 to 5 hours of supervision per month. Groups consist of 4 to 5 associates and will never be over six.

What are your expectations of supervisees?
I expect supervisees to come to supervision prepared with either a case to staff, or questions regarding social work practice. My hope is that supervisees will feel comfortable to come with honesty and authenticity regarding their experiences in the field so that we can all continue growing as practitioners.
What unique experiences and expertise do you bring to supervision?
I have been a licensed social worker for over 8 years. I have practiced in many different settings and successfully grown a thriving group practice in the heart of Austin. I{ve received advanced trainings in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Attachment Focused EMDR, and Interpersonal Neurobiology and Attachment Theory.
