Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Schedule an Initial Appointment?

You can schedule an initial appointment through our contact page or via email.  You can learn more about each of our clinicians here.

What Will My First Session Be Like?

During your initial session, your therapist will ask you about what brings you to counseling, your goals for therapy, needs, strengths, and relevant history. At the end of session, you will then schedule a follow up appointment and discuss first steps in meeting treatment goals.

Prior to this appointment, you will receive intake paperwork from our Practice Manager. It is essential that you complete all documents prior to your initial visit so that your clinician can be best prepared to serve you.  You’ll schedule your next appointment and perhaps agree on some first steps in reaching your goals.

How Long Will I Be in Therapy?

This depends on your personal needs. Some clients need only a couple sessions, some clients need many sessions, some clients prefer to continue coming for maintenance. Research shows that most benefit is usually gained from between 10 and 20 sessions. We will work together to plan with you to help get going in the right direction as efficiently and as effectively as possible. We offer both short-term and open-ended therapy.

Do You Accept Insurance?

Insurance companies often place limits on session frequency, duration, and covered therapeutic modalities. Grace Therapy & Wellness is not paneled with insurance.  We have chosen to remain out-of-network in order to provide our clients more autonomy and flexibility with their treatment. If you choose to use your out-of-network benefits, we are happy to provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

What are the office hours?

Our practice does not have set office hours, our therapists work by appointment only, and each therapist sets their own schedule. We have therapists that work each day of the week, including Saturdays and Sundays. You can work together with your therapist to find a time that works for each of you.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are listed as 60 minutes- often you will talk with your therapist for 50 minutes, and the last 10 minutes are for billing, scheduling, documentation.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

If you do not cancel your session within 24 hours, you will be charged your therapist's full rate as we are unlikely able to fill your allocated session at a short notice.

Do you offer sliding scale rates?

Yes, on a limited basis, and each therapist has a different number of spots available at any given time. Reach out if this is something you need!

Can I be late to sessions?

Yes! We give a 15 minute grace period (life happens). If you are running late, ensure that you communicate this with your therapist. After 15 minutes with no communication, sessions are considered a no-show and charged at your therapist's full rate.

Do I need therapy?

Every person seeks therapy for different reasons according to their own story. We believe that anyone at any time could face concerns that they are not sure how to process and may need to seek assistance from a counselor. If you notice your friends and family have become your regular and only sounding board, it may be time to find a new sounding board.

All of our clinicians are out of network with insurance providers. This is for many reasons, but often because insurance tries to limit the number of sessions you are provided regardless of what you are needing.

What we are able to offer is a Superbill. This is a statement that lists your charges for sessions that you are able to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. It is not a guarantee that your insurance will reimburse but we are able to provide a superbill upon request. Many individuals choose to submit them monthly, though you are able to request them sooner if needed. Click here to learn more.
