Hi, I'm Kasey!
I am a licensed master social worker working as a psychotherapist in Austin, Texas under clinical supervision of Grace Dowd, LCSW-S. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Masters in Social Work.
I am a trauma-sensitive, creative, and compassionate therapist who is passionate about working with adolescents, teens, young adults, and couples. I hope to co-create a nurturing sanctuary with you where judgment is absent, and curiosity is abundant, tailored to your personal growth and healing.
My personal practices of photography, Zazen meditation, and yoga have informed my clinical social work practice by enabling me to integrate art and mindfulness into my work. I have experience working with individuals as they navigate anxiety, depression, personality and mood disorders, relationship stressors, bullying and social isolation, family of origin issues, communication skills, and boundary-setting.
I welcome and accept all identities in my practice.
How I Help
The difficult aspects of life are unavoidable: feelings of isolation and loneliness, relationship stressors, periods of change and transition, or even barriers imposed by systems of power. We can seldom evade what comes with the territory of being human. On the flipside, we humans have an incredible knack for resiliency, curiosity, and self-awareness.
In therapy, my aim is to support you in cultivating the coping skills and mindfulness practices that will help bring forth these powerful parts of yourself—parts that have been there all along.
My approach is person-centered, relational, and integrative. I ground our work together in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Systems Theory, and Buddhist Psychology. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
I aim to create a safe, validating, and honest atmosphere for you to feel through what is past, present, and on the horizon in your life. Just as valuable as the harder feelings, I also love when we can infuse our shared space with humor, playfulness, and creativity. If my approach resonates, I would love to meet you where you're at.
